Adult Day Program (ADP)

The Adult Day Care Center provides non-medical care to persons 18 years of age and older who need personal care services, supervision and assistance with daily living activities on less than a 24 hour basis. Meals, entertainment and activities are provided. ADP is open Monday through Friday, except holidays. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Alzheimer's Resource Center
Shasta County's only certified Alzheimer's Resource Center. The ARC program was initiated to help meet the respite needs of unpaid caregivers and provide a meaningful experience for persons with dementia. It was designed to provide a service for persons who frequently are not accepted by existing service programs. There are no age, financial or other qualifications for eligibility to participate.

Foster Grandparents and Senior Companions

 
These programs offer seniors on a limited income an opportunity to assist children or other senior citizens. Participants are screened, trained, placed at a volunteer station and, while serving, receive a s mall stipend for each hour of service and mileage reimbursement which is not taxed or considered income in order to qualify for any other senior programs. Foster Grandparents spend up to 20 hours a week working with at risk children in various school settings, while Senior Companions assist frail elderly in their homes. MSSP (Multipurpose Senior Services Program)
MSSP is a Medi-Cal program, funded through the Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, D.C. and the Department of Health Services in the State of California. MSSP's goal is to help the frail elderly live an independent life of dignity at home by delaying or preventing institutional placement. the MSSP serves Shasta, Lassen, Trinity, and Siskiyou counties. Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)
RSVP provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.  For more information on RSVP click here.

Advocates
Golden Umbrella Advocates serve senior citizens and disabled adults of Shasta County by providing information, assistance and referral, Representative Payee services and assistance with problem resolution. The Advocates work closely with other agencies and organizations to assure the safety of participants and that all needed services are provided.
