REDDING, Calif. — Mercy Medical Center Redding (MMCR) is pleased to have successfully completed an evaluation by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The survey took place during the week of Sept. 28, 2009, and included nine surveyors who reviewed MMCR’s compliance with all 23 conditions of participation in the federal program, which governs care of Medicare and Medicaid recipients. The surveyors indicated that they are recommending that Mercy will be found in compliance with all 23 conditions of participation.

“The news shared with us in our exit conference with the surveyors is most welcoming and gratifying,” said Jon Halfhide, CHW North State President and Interim MMCR President. “Patient safety is our highest priority at Mercy. Our team of physicians, staff and hospital leadership has been working tirelessly to move our culture to a place of consistent and total compliance with all that is expected of us from patients, their families, the state, federal and other accrediting agencies.”

“As with all evaluation surveys, we did receive recommendations for improvement from the survey team and we will immediately begin our plan of correction for each area identified,” Halfhide said. Mercy anticipates receiving the official report from CMS within the next few weeks. Once received, the Hospital will file its plans of correction within the required 10-day time frame. “As we demonstrated this summer, we are strongly committed to making any and all improvements that are identified through this process,” Halfhide said.

MMCR has been a trusted community partner, serving the residents of far Northern California since 1944.
