Early detection is critical in treating breast cancer. The Mercy Regional Cancer Center will host a free breast cancer screening for qualifying women 40-years of age and older. The Breast Cancer Early Detection Program will take place on Thursday, October 29, 2009.

The breast cancer screening involves three components:

  • Mammogram - an X-ray of your breasts can be a powerful way to detect breast cancer in its earliest, most treatable stage.
  • Breast Self Examination – education provided by a Mercy oncology nurse.
  • Clinical Breast Examination – a physician or affiliated health care providers will conduct the examination.

After the age of 40, a mammogram is highly recommended. To find out if you qualify for this state-funded program, please call Mercy Medical Center Redding at (530) 24-MERCY (246-3729). Appointments are limited and women must pre-register no later than September 25, 2009.
