The Let’s Talking Parenting Program is an eight-week interactive workshop series designed especially for expectant parents and those with children through age five.
Some topics to be discussed include: the job of parenting, developing positive parenting skills, the importance of parents taking care of themselves, stress and anger management, verbal and non-verbal communication, the art of listening, child development, and the many challenging aspects of discipline.
This free class is being offered on Monday evenings, Sept. 14, 2009 to Nov. 2, 2009 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. People interested in the program can register by calling (530) 24-MERCY or online at redding.mercy.org. Shasta Adult School credit is available through the Shasta Union High School District for those who qualify. Free transportation is available to the class and raffle drawings will take place each week. Participants who attend at least five of the eight classes will be eligible for a bonus drawing at the last class.
