Early detection is critical in treating breast cancer.

A free Breast Cancer Screening for women 40-years and over will take place on Thursday, April 30, 2009, at Mercy Regional Cancer Center. After age 40, a mammogram is highly recommended.

The Breast Screening Program, provided by Mercy Regional Cancer Center, involves three components:

Mammography - an x-ray of your breasts can be a powerful way to detect breast cancer in its earliest, most treatable stage.

Breast Self Examination - education will be provided by a Mercy oncology nurse.

Clinical Breast Examination – a physician or affiliated health care providers will provide examination.

To find out if you qualify for this state-funded program, please call Mercy Medical Center at (530) 24-MERCY (246-3729). Appointments are limited and women must pre-register no later than March 26, 2009.
